Screen printing

In this assignment you are to create a typographic representation of a quote of your choice.  At least one of the key words of your piece must be from an offline typeface (hand-drawn, scanned found objects etc) that you have created yourself.  You may include graphics in your work however the type must be the hero of the work.

PART A Written Response

1) Source a quote that you will visually represent using a combination of typography and graphics (where appropriate).  You may source the quote yourself or choose from the resources below, however your quote should be about ideas, design or creativity.  Check with your teacher prior to commencing design.

2) Idea research (Minimum 150 words): Research your chosen quote and carefully consider the intended meaning.  Explain in your own words what the quote means to you and what message you wish to convey in your visual representation.
(Note: This question is not about the visual elements or typefaces you wish to use but the core meaning of the quote and the idea you wish to convey)

 3) Type inspiration: Find at least 5 inspiring typography artworks from professional artists and designers that may assist you in creating your own individual style.

4) Feedback:
Receive feedback from at least three individuals on your initial ideas and include the feedback you received in your written response.  (One of these individuals must not be a designer)
Were your ideas clearly understood by the person you discussed your design with?
What positive feedback did you receive?
What negative feedback did you receive?
      What other suggestions/comments  were made?

5) Response: If necessary, alter your existing ideas based on the feedback you received.  How did the feedback impact on your original ideas?  Scan the results of any changes that were made to the existing ideas and include them in your written response.

PART B Design

1) Save your design as a PDF that is suitable for screen-printing.  Your teacher will discuss appropriate settings for each individual artwork.
